European Studies Working Group Conference Grant

The Center for European Studies is now accepting applications for funding to host on-campus workshops, conferences, or other public event on a topic of general interest. Funding for this grant is provided by the US Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center grant with additional funding provided by the UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The grant is intended to foster multi- and/or interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty and advanced graduate students working on contemporary European topics that will attract audiences from both the UF and Gainesville community. The events sponsored by this grant should not only foster scholarly exchange, debate, and discussion, but should provide a public forum for the dissemination of the resulting exchange.

Eligibility

Small groups of at least 3 faculty (which may include lecturers), working with at least 2 advanced graduate students, and representing at minimum 2 academic units may submit proposals.

Awards will be decided in the current semester with events occurring in the following semester.

Application Process

Application packets should include:

  • Cover Page including –
    • Name of applicant, department, college, rank, and email address
    • Name of co-applicants, including graduate students,¬†and their relevant information (see above)
    • Name & email address of applicant’s Chair and/or Director
    • Project title
    • Amount requested
    • Abstract (not more than 200 words, written for a general audience)
  • Narrative (maximum 1,000 words)

Potential applicants are invited to write to the CES Director, Dr. Amie Kreppel, at kreppel@ufl.edu in advance with any questions or concerns about the grant process or to review a draft proposal. All drafts must be submitted no later than a week prior to the deadline.
