Educators in Residence

The Educators-in-Residence (EnR) program provides K-12 teachers the opportunity to expand their knowledge of contemporary European Studies topics, transfer that knowledge to the precollegiate curriculum, and network and collaborate with other educators across the country. During the program, teachers will study contemporary Europe from a variety of disciplines and receive assistance in developing lesson plans and course modules, including access to UF online resources.

Duration: 1 academic year (September – May)
Location: Online, with optional in-person final workshop
Eligibility: US K-12 and community college educators

Program Activities

Opening Conference

The one-day conference includes a welcome from the Center, program overview, meeting with the UF European Studies Librarian, pedagogy discussion, and guest speakers.

Webinars

Webinars will be held on specialized European Studies topics. The webinars will be led by UF faculty, staff, and guest speakers. Each webinar will include a round-robin discussion on incorporating content into the K-12 curriculum standards.

  • The “Other” Europe

Brainstorm Sessions

Throughout the academic year, CES will provide networking and brainstorming sessions to discuss lesson plan development.

Closing Workshop

The workshop is a half-day conference to present near final lesson plans, receive feedback before final lesson plans are due, and reflect on incorporating new content learned into the curriculum.

Program Requirements

All Educators-in-Residence must complete the following to receive the stipend and certificate of completion:

  • Attend opening conference
  • Webinar participation
  • Present lesson plan or course module during closing workshop
  • Submit final, completed lesson plan or course module
    • Lesson plans and course modules will be shared on the Educators-in-Residence website and other CES teacher resource pages.
  • Create 1 blog post or article for the CES biennial newsletter or program website.
