East-Central European Studies Program

The East-Central European Studies Program (ECES) at the University of Florida (UF) was formally established within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Fall 2007. It is housed in the Center of European Studies, and is a fully interdisciplinary program with courses in Anthropology, English, Food and Human Nutrition, History, LLC, Political Science, and Sociology, among others. The program offers a Minor and Certificate.

The primary goal of the East-Central European Studies Program at UF is to provide a comprehensive range of courses on Eastern and Central Europe, including classes on the history, politics, culture, and languages of the region. The program combines both area and language studies to provide a comprehensive study of the region. Students who complete the minor have pursued careers in academics, the federal government, and international organizations. For more information on our alumni, visit our Alumni page.
