Ambassador Carey Cavanaugh brings his unique perspective as a retired Foreign Service officer to this talk on the current status of the war in Ukraine. Ambassador Cavanaugh worked at the Department of State for 22 years — primarily on conflict resolution and humanitarian issues – with assignments to Moscow, Berlin, Rome, Tbilisi and Bern, as well as the US Senate and the Pentagon. He came to the University of Kentucky in 2006, serving for 10 years as director of its Patterson School of Diplomacy. He remains a professor there, but is also chairman of International Alert, a leading London-based NGO engaged in peacebuilding efforts around the globe. Come by from 4-5pm to speak with Ambassador Cavanaugh about careers in international studies and foreign service.
