Please join us for a talk by Visiting Professor Jacomine Nortier (Linguistics) as she delves into the realm of identity construction and expression.  Professor Nortier’s talk will focus on a Moroccan and Turkish immigrant community in Utrecht, the rap music that has arisen from this particular group, and the ways in which they have incorporated urban youth speech patterns to construct a very specific identity that is distinct from other youth identities in the Netherlands.   Lunch will be provided!
