SCHOOL-WIDE PROGRAMS

CES offers funding and resources for schools to participate in K-12 events such as Euro Challenge for high school students, hosts Europe Day celebrations for elementary schools, and sponsors the annual 34th Street Art Wall Competition for art students in Alachua County.

Euro Challenge

Euro Challenge

The Euro Challenge, https://www.euro-challenge.org, is a “competition for 9th and 10th grade students to learn about the European Union and the Euro. Teams of three to five students are asked to make presentations answering specific questions about the European economy and the single currency, the Euro.” High schools participate in regional competitions for the chance to travel to New York and present before officials from the New York Federal Reserve Bank, the Delegation of the European Union to the US, and other experts.

The regional competition for schools in the southeast is hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Miami Branch, and Florida International University.

For high schools interested in participating, CES offers an orientation, resources, and funding to help prepare students and teachers for the regional competition.

Europe Day

Europe Day

Celebrated on May 9, Europe Day celebrates peace in Europe and marks the anniversary of the declaration by one of Europe’s forefather, Robert Schuman, that Europe needed a new form of cooperation to make war between European countries unthinkable. From this declaration, the beginnings of what today is the European Union were established.

CES offers a wide range of activities and presentations for all ages on the European Union, and can collaborate with area elementary, middle, and high schools to host school-wide celebrations of European history, culture, and people.

Learn more about Europe Day and contact CES at outreach@ces.ufl.edu to host classroom or school wide Europe Day activities at your school!
