The Gerald R. Kunde, II Study Abroad Scholarship at the Center for European Studies is a merit and need based initiative designed to provide critical financial support to undergraduate students to enable them to pursue summer study abroad and experiential learning in Europe. Applicants may be from any discipline, but the study abroad program must take place in Europe. Programs with clear experiential learning components will be prioritized.
Eligibility Requirements:
- UF students selected to participate in a summer UF study abroad program in Europe.
- Students with an open application to a program are also eligible to apply; the award would be contingent upon acceptance to the study abroad program.
- Minimum 6-week program
- Demonstrated financial need
Students from non-traditional majors and underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
The Gerald R. Kunde, II Study Abroad Scholarship will provide (3) $2,000 awards to assist undergraduates participating in study abroad programs in Europe.
Scholarship recipients are required to submit a post-program blog including a short description of your experience, benefits you gained from the program, and photos. Blogs will be featured on the Gerald R. Kunde, II Study Abroad Scholarship webpage and CES website.
Interested students should submit the following:
- Award Application Form
- Statement of Purpose: 1-2 pages describing the value of the program for the student’s future career goals and academic study, the experiential learning opportunities, and financial need.
- (1) Letter of Recommendation: must be from a faculty member or Graduate Teaching Assistant. Recommendations should be emailed directly from the recommender to Corinne Tomasi (corie@ufl.edu).
- Unofficial UF Transcript
- Optional – students can provide one the of following documents for consideration of financial need:
- FAFSA (confirmation page is sufficient)
- Other state or federal financial aid
- Determination of Financial Need Form
