University of Florida Homepage

The Center for European Studies offers a wide array of academic opportunities. At the center, students can find two undergraduate minors and certificates in European Union and East-Central European studies, a graduate certificate on Modern European Studies, language and area studies courses in a range of disciplines from political science to food and human nutrition, and study abroad programs that take students to the heart of Europe.

In today’s globalized society, it is critical for students from all majors to develop an understanding of the broader world beyond the US. European Studies offers students the opportunity to look at their major from a new perspective, whether it be the differences in political institutions in Europe and other world regions, advances in astronomy and the work being done by the European Space Agency, or urban development and sustainable building in major European cities.

Learning a European language or taking area studies courses on Europe expands students’ understanding and analytical abilities, develops their job-related skills, and fosters a new generation of global Gators!
